Tasting - Frisk Prickly Reisling

Name: Frisk Prickly Reisling
Variety: Riesling (89%), Muscat Gordo (11%)
Region:  Alpine Valleys, Victori
Country: Australia
Year: 2010
Price: $12

Shop review: Leave it to the Aussies to come up with a tasty value wine with a sassy descriptive name. Frisk is a frisky Riesling with a pleasing level of prickly spritz lifting the ample fruity flavors. It has a pale straw color, lively bubbles, loads of tropical fruit and jasmine aromas, off-dry fruit flavors, a refreshing 9.8% alcohol and a sweet/tart finish; and all that Australian goodness.

My review: Excellent. Fruity, citrus smell, and the taste displays tendencies of pineapple. Prickly is perhaps the perfect description of this wine; it made me think I was drinking some kind of fruity soda. This wine was smooth and an overall enjoyable experience. Would drink again.

I tasted this on its own with no food.

Tasting - Leese Fitch Sauvignon Blanc

Name: Leese-Fitch California Cabernet Sauvignon
Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2010
Price: $10.95

Critic Review: A lovely Sauvignon Blanc, dry, crisply acidic and clean, with complex citrus, flower, and mineral flavors. A great value for the money - S.H., 90 points, Wine Enthusiast.

My Review: I really enjoyed this wine, so much so that I purchased a bottle and the end of the tasting. I immediately picked up a lemony-citrus aroma as described as well as a faint hint of tea that really invited the tasting. With my unrefined, raw palate I was greeted with a taste reminiscent of orange and perhaps even cherry. On top of all this, the wine was smooth and really easy to drink.

I tasted this on its own with no food.
